I had the opportunity to mentor Sarthak on a project focused on improving our ML model inference/scoring pipeline. Over the course of the project, he contributed to reducing inference time on a given model scoring pipeline from 7 hours to 36 minutes, lowering costs, and helping our data science team scale to more models. He also played a role in improving the alignment between offline and online scoring
He ramped up quickly on new tools like Apache Beam, ran careful benchmarks, and surfaced optimizations that the team could apply more broadly. Beyond his coding work, he asked thoughtful questions, shared his learnings, and added to the team's overall understanding. Sarthak brought initiative and problem-solving skills to the project and I would love to work with him again

Sarthak did his summer intern at Experian Lab this summer and he is clearly a super star.
Whenever we talked, one thing was clear that I rarely had to tell Sarthak what the next step was. More than once, he'd already started on something before I'd even brought it up, he was consistently a step ahead of where I wanted someone to be.
That kind of instinct and motivation are rare, and not just for someone early in their career. Most engineers need years of experience before they stop waiting for direction and start recognizing what actually needs to happen next on their own. Sarthak already had that instinct, along with the technical ability to act on it.
I want him on my team again and I'd say the same to anyone else evaluating him.
